L1 avalanche course at Pajarito Mtn, Feb. 23-25, 2018

Hi all, please hold the dates Feb. 23-25, 2018 for a planned L1 avalanche course (classroom and field sessions) at Pajarito Mtn, NM, open to both ski patrollers and members of the public. This course will be taught by National Ski Patrol avalanche instructors and will conform to the standards of the American Avalanche Association. Please check this forum again over the next few weeks for more information and instructions on how to enroll.

And it turns out that a good ol' ski partner of mine from the SLC area may be giving a talk on human factors. Highly recommended. Here's a pic of him I took on Mt. Moran, and another dropping in where he looks like he's having a human factor moment:

Yes indeed Bob, Amy's working on getting him down here for the course! Amy met Russ at the recent Colorado Snow and Avalanche Workshop (CSAW) in Breckenridge, CO, and I think he did mention to Amy that he knows you.

Here is the announcement for the NSP Avalanche Level 1 course at Pajarito Mountain, NM Feb 23-25, 2018. Please pass along to interest parties. There is no registration fee for NSP patrollers and registration is limited. Please contact Amy Bauer at albauer@umich.edu with questions.

Enrollment instructions: Please go to http://tinyurl.com/y88fzrpa to enroll. Up to 50% of the slots are reserved for patrollers. There is no registration fee for NSP patrollers but registration is limited. Enrollment confirmation will be first-come, first-served according to the date of receipt of the $40 course enrollment fee, which includes lift privileges on the field session days and an NSP certificate of course completion. (NSP patrollers will get formal course credit for L1 modules 1 and 2; rescue-component module 3 will be offered if there is sufficient demand).

Due to lack of snow and little likelihood of developing a meaningful snowpack at Pajarito by Feb 23, we have regretfully cancelled this L1 avalanche course. Please look for out for announcements for another offering of a L1 course next season.
