I was in the upper reaches of Big Tesuque today a few hundred yards outside the Santa Fe Ski Area boundary. The weather was weird, with a mix of rain, snow and graupel. Snow-pack in the Santa Fe area, between 3550m and 3659m, is shallow. I measured depths from 25cm to 36cm. There were a couple of inches of new/wind-deposited snow. 25cm of snow at 3607m in the trees on a n/nw aspect. Depth hoar development. Extended Column Test ECTN 21 at 10cm. 10cm layer is bottom of meltfreeze crust.

55cm of settled snow in the trees at 3610m below Deception Ridge. 6+ inches of new snow. Some surface hoar development. Layer of concern is a crust (likely melt freeze) buried between 8cm to 15cm (measured from ground). Stability tests show the layer to be moderately reactive with Q3 shears.

Snow depth is 35cm at 3563m (near, but below, treeline) on a west facing slope. 15cm of snow from Nov 21/22 storm. Snow is supportable for skis with 4 finger hardness.
