Partners for either Santa Fe or Taos area

Hello, New Mexico!

I just moved here last April from the Wasatch Range, and I'm desperate for touring partners. Anybody interested? I'm an advanced skier, with formal avalanche education up to Avy 1.5 (UAC offered a hybrid 1-2 class a few years ago).

Advantages to touring me with include, but are not limited to:
- I'm friendly (but not overly so)
- I bake really awesome gluten free things to bring with me (and share!)
- I'm an atmospheric scientist who LOVES to talk about snow
- I enjoy beacon drills

Disadvantages include:
- I live in Abiquiu and have a long drive to skiing. :(
- I'm not used to this continental snowpack and may be overly cautious (but that's really not a disadvantage, right?)

I'd really like to meet some people who want to get out. I'm used to touring 2-3 days a week out of SLC, and I'm missing it pretty bad right now! My work schedule is flexible, so if you're headed up and want a partner, let me know!

P.S. References available upon request ;)

Me too! I'm a weekend warrior mostly, off alternate Fridays with some other flexibility. Looking to do more stuff in the Santa Fe area, though quick Taos day tours are also on the menu.

If anybody's up for a dawn(ish) patrol of Santa Fe, I went up this morning. On snow by 6:30, at the top by 7:30, at the car by 8:00. It worked out pretty well.

Here are some photos to entice you to set an early alarm:

I may go again next Tuesday because I have to pick up a turkey. Let me know if you're interested!

I just joined today and would be interested in all sorts of touring. Tomorrow would like to do some low angled meadow skipping somewhere!

I am thinking of giving Heaven's a try Sunday - maybe leaving town around 8:00. Anybody done it recently? Any interest out there?
