Sandia First Tracks?

Postby Nuro305 » Thu Oct 29, 2009 12:19 pm

I posted a snow report for Sandia Peak in the snow report section (should be posted soon).

Dan & I did a lap and made it top to bottom with very few rock incidents! I can't wait to get up to Santa Fe...

Any pictures, or are they in the snow report? I am planning on heading there after work tomorrow (Friday).

Here are the pics linked in the Snow Report (they kinda suck) I would bet another 2 or 3'' fell since then.

Not bad at all.

After seeing that, I will definitely be up there after work tomorrow. Going solo, unless anyone wants to meet up for a lap (or two, if the legs are feeling good).

Actually gonna head up tomorrow morning. Start time at the base around 7:45.

Will definitely keep posting trips, but as soon as Taos opens, that eats up my weekends until it closes, then I'm free again.

Headed up to Sandia Friday morning. Bottom 1/4 was pretty grassy/rocky/dirt, but the middle was decent and the top 1/4 was ankle deep powder. Thin wind crust on the top in areas with a few knee-deep soft drifts.

I could barely make out a skin track, I'm assuming those were the tracks Nuro left on Thursday.

Cool! Yea it was worth it.... those tracks must have been me & Dan. Nice pics, I can't wait till we get more snow. I want to hit Santa Fe ASAP...
Weird, I also have a copper colored Honda Element!

We'll have to "Hook Up" when we get the next storm...

We need that "Hook Ups" forum added to this site.. What say you Mark !?

I can do that. You think that just setting a forum like the annual ones would do it?

Sandia Last Tracks?

Postby Kerry » Sat May 01, 2010 8:17 am

Skied Sandia late afternoon on Fri (30 Apr). About 4" of fresh, dry powder was on top of, well, mostly grass. But by staying skier's right on three different runs, I was able to yo-yo the top 1000-1200' without needing any P-tex repair.

Now THAT's a spring skiing fan ;-)

I remember a run last year where I walked out of the bottom of the run in the mud..... but it still rocked!
