prime pajarito!!

Postby scotthsu » Sat Mar 28, 2009 2:18 pm

Did two laps on east aspen (at Pajarito) this morning (Sat), about 8" fresh powder on top of a base that's still hanging in there. it was surprisingly light, better than anything at Taos on Friday. Go get it before it turns into glop in a day or two! it remained fairly cold up there today; i expect the snow will still be decently light on sunday. (edit: probably my best 2 powder runs of the season at pajarito)

That's good to hear Scott. I was thinking about Pajarito when I was skinning up SF Friday, wondering if maybe it wasn't pretty good as well.

But it sure ended up warm today.

about 10" of powder at pajarito. skied 2 runs this morning; my pants are still damp from the waist shots (never heard it called that before). Find the shaded/protected lines and thou shalt be rewarded!

Pajarito has been great...did Nuther Muther, Breathless, and Sidewinder last Saturday morning :D But I suspect it's getting a bit thin by now.

not so prime

just skied the "meal deal" (porcupine park to bob's bowl to wildcat); snow was just softening up quite nicely. hint: skin up pussycat from the bottom of aspen lift; it has the most continuous skinnable snow with only 2 short ski-carries. maybe only a week more up there before you're hiking the bottom 1/3 of the mountain.

just skied meal deal again, probably my last run on pajarito until next season. melting has accelerated in the last 3 days. lower wildcat is the best place to start skinning. maybe another few days left before it REALLY becomes not worth doing. thanks to mother nature for a great season at pajarito!
