Sandia Last Gasp!

Postby Nuro305 » Thu Apr 10, 2008 1:33 pm

I went up to Sandia this morning and feasted on 8 to 10'' of great snow, not crusty at all.

If you want to ski Sandia anymore get up there Friday before the sun does it in.

I skied the south-side of La Madera to Fred's Run and made it all the way down without needing my rock-skiis ;-)

ps: park WAAAAY off to the side. The moron snow plow driver hit and broke BOTH or our car's drivers side mirrors this morning. Oh yea, we tracked him and his boss down and filed claims.

I'm planning to ski a couple of laps tonight. Will park either below ski resort or at Ellis TH. To fine tune a rendezvous ring my cell 463-8434.

Friday night update

Nuro nailed the powder while it was fresh. By Fri night, breakable crust was predominant with some powder pockets. Plenty, but not complete coverage still allows use from the botom of the resort. Recommend hitting Sandia after the surface warms. Although I skied up and down from the bottome of the resort, after this weekend's sun, I expect the Ellis TH or the tram to be a better starting point.
