Matt (of NNMAE), is that the one you've called Ohio chute?

Everyone has their own names for chutes around here.

I think I've heard some of the NNMAE (and NM skiing yahoo) gang call that one Ohio as well. I'll have to ask around next season what the TSV old timers call it since they have names for all the west facing avy chutes below Walter and La Cal Basin.

Yes, that one has been called Ohio Chute. I think HD actually started calling it that after I skied it three times in the winter of 04-05. Funny thing is I've only skied that chute in boot high or better powder, never in the spring.

Although now that I think about it, it might have been RD that called it that first. Maybe that lends some USFS legitimacy to the name.... Wink

Anybody know if there is any skiable snow left up above Williams Lake? I kinda like to try and ski the solstice every year - even if it is only a couple hundred vertical feet.

Anybody crazy enough to join me?

MM

Mark,
Is June 20th the solstice or the 21st. I'd consider a search for snow on the 20th just because of my work schedule.

Well - we probably got the last turns of the season on about 100 yards of snow and rock - 2 hours of hiking for 15 seconds of pleasure. It was pretty bare for late June - usually you can find something better this time of year. At least the weather was pretty dramatic!
